Straight Out Scribes (SOS) participated in the Sacramento Black Book Fair again this year. This was the 2nd annual. It is really a spectacular event with a wide array of authors participating in various capacities. Additionally, there were children's activities, musical performances, vendors, talks, giveaways and more.
We conducted another 2 hour chat room, this time at the Brickhouse Art gallery in Oak Park and drew a great crowd even in the extreme heat. Thanks for coming out everyone!! Fitting in time for blogging has proven to be more work than I ever anticipated. The Scribes have been having an awesome time and it's my job to share the highlights with all of you. So, forgive my lag in postings.
Dr. DeGruy drew an awesome audience to the 24th and Florin complex in April. We opened for her and her audience gave us an abundance of love. We stayed for the program and had an opportunity to meet and greet Dr. DeGruy who seemed to appreciate the encounter. We sent her home with a copy of Mud Cloth Roots, which we suspect she may read and enjoy. We'll let you know if she comments on the book. |
