Maybe you were hoping for an April 1, April Fool's post, but ain't nobody here got time fo that. Why? Because we are too busy celebrating the success of our newest collection of poetry, Mud Cloth Roots. Sho Nuff hosted us at Luna's Poetry UnPlugged Thursday, April 2. Good friends and long time Scribes admirers Heather, Rita and Nsaa came out, along with several other familiar faces and individuals new to the Scribes style of poetry. The reception we have received from Mud Cloth Roots has been so positive and affirming.
We had great food at Luna's, heard an array of poetry subjects and styles from the open mic, enjoyed the art on the walls and the discussion that followed and left lifted. Then, on April 11, Fenix drum and dance studio hosted us. We had "family" and a new friend travel from the Bay area to attend the reading, and one who was returning to South Carolina the next day. The affair was intimate, relaxed, personal and a treat. The Scribes don't have any new book signings in the works, but will close out National Poetry Month opening for Dr. Joy DeGruy. Visit our Facebook page for more details or comment with tell me more and we will let you know the time and location of the program for Dr. DeGruy, author of Post Tramatic Slave Syndrome. And remember, Mud Cloth Roots makes a great gift for birthdays, mother's day, father's day and other special occasions. Peace!
